RECEPTIONIST/FINANCIAL SPECIALIST

Bargaining Unit: Financial Specialist (229 day 7.5 hours per day)

Position Summary:

FLSA This position serves as the first point of contact for the Central Office while providing clerical and office management support for a major division or subdivision of the school District. Incumbent serves as the administrative/clerical staff member responsible for supporting the office administrator.

Supervision:

Works with an elevated level of independence and professional discretion under the general supervision of a designated administrator or superintendent. Work is controlled and/or guided by state statute and state administrative code, professional practice, school and District policies and procedures, and directions and expectations as established by the administrator(s).

Duties and Responsibilities listed may include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Provides clerical support to the finance office administrator and other administrative staff.
  1. Answers telephones, performs all secretarial duties assigned such as tying, filing, faxing, scanning, etc., and posts correspondence as required by the Superintendent and School Board
  2. Is front office/primary contact for Central Office
  1. Clerical work, such as but not restricted to accounting, deposits, and other financial transactions.
  2. Greets visitors entering the office and provides direction, guidance, and direct assistance on routine matters and personal areas of responsibility.
  3. Ensures that all visitors have followed appropriate safety measures prior to allowing into building.
  1. Must have strong communication, computer and interpersonal skill, have ability to learn and utilize new software programs as systems are upgraded
  1. Assists various departments with various clerical tasks as requested.
  2. Prepares purchase requisition and submits it to the finance department.
  3. Required to follow Board policies and stay abreast of updates and changes.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned by administrator and/or designee.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. Associate degree preferred.
  3. Prior experience working in an office setting.

Employee may be required to interact with clients, customers, and staff who are emotionally upset, angry or distraught. In such interactions, employee must be able to maintain control, decorum, and professionalism.
