DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Supervises and oversees the Special Education Transition program of the District.
- Will assist in evaluating placing students using appropriate educational, vocational, and interest inventories.
- Will collaborate with the students case manager to develop, as part of the IEP team, transitional plan for appropriate students.
- Will attend IEP meetings and other related staff meetings, as appropriate.
- Will collaborate with IEP team in determining most appropriate services for students in Special Education.
- Will collaborate with the IEP team in aligning the post-secondary goals with the academic goals in student’s IEP
- Will meet with students and families in the evaluation, planning, implementation, and follow up regarding transitional services for assigned students.
- Will attend meetings and conferences, as related to Transitional issues of the District, and meetings assigned by the building supervisor or Special Education Coordinator.
- Will provide technical assistance to school personnel, employers, job-site businesses, as appropriate.
- Will demonstrate the ability to work in a team setting.
- Will modify and adapt the design appropriate curriculum units, as needed.
- Will serve various schools, local, state committees, as assigned or appropriate.
- Will exhibit knowledge of current State and Federal regulations pertaining to student who qualify for Special Education.
- Will assist in the Indicator 13 audit
- Will assist in organizing the spring transition (progression) meetings for 5th grade students to 6th grade, who have an IEP
- Will assist in organizing the spring transition (progression) meetings for 8th grade students to 9th grade, who have an IEP
- Will organize the spring transition (progression) meetings with 8th grade students from the charter schools who will be attending the high school in the 9th grade, who have an IEP
- Shall work 182 days at 6.5 hours daily.
- Shall be entitles to all fringe benefits as accrued by all nine-month employees.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree with New Mexico Public Education Department License in Special Education or Related Services (ie. Social Worker, vocational rehabilitation counselor) with at least 2 years experience working with students with disabilities in a public school setting.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Teaching License issued by the New Mexico Public Education Department.
